Description: This is the first “modern” five pound bank note issued by The Bahamas Government. It is also the highest denomination for the 1936 series.
Varieties: There are two different types of 1936 five pound notes. You want to find a note that has a signature for the Colonial Secretary Commissioner of Currency instead of just the Commissioner of Currency. Notes with the Colonial Secretary signature are very rare, and worth about four times more than other five pound notes.
