1936 Bahamas Bank Notes with George VI
King George VI was crowned in 1936, so that meant that currency from The Bahamas had to be redesigned. So the new King replaced his father on the face of all four shillings, ten shillings, and one pound bank notes. The Currency Note Act of 1936 also allowed for a five pound denomination. Some five pounds bank notes are very rare. All other notes are readily available in all grades, but that doesn’t mean that they are always cheap. Some notes can be worth hundreds of dollars.
