Laws 27 of 1904 and 17 of 1918 – George V Jamaica Bank Notes
These are the first bank notes issued by Jamaica. Don’t let the year 1904 make you think these are older than they are. They were first printed around 1918. Of course each note shows a portrait of George V. We have information and values for the two shillings sixpence, five shillings, and ten shillings bank note below. Believe it or not, according to book values, the five shillings note is the most common. We just weren’t able to find an image for our guide. However, all of these notes are relatively scarce in general and especially rare in high grades. Simply put, not many were printed and most were redeemed. We are certainly interested buyers.
