The Oriental Bank Corporation Bank Note Values
The Oriental Bank Corporation Bank Notes
Old money from The Oriental Bank Corporation can be broken down into a couple of different categories. The earliest type of bank notes were issued in Victoria, Hong Kong for five, fifty, and one hundred dollars. These only exist today as proofs. The proof will be stamped with the word specimen. These likely only exist in government collections.
The other series has dates of 7th March 1866, 7th May 1866, 4th September 1866, 7th March 1879, 7th May 1879, 1st September 1882, and 1st May 1883. Those issue dates are mixed between denominations of five, twenty-five, fifty, and one hundred dollar bank notes. All of that money from Hong Kong is very rare. In fact you can really only expect to find bank notes for $5 and $25. And those bank notes are still worth many thousands of dollars. We have pictures of both examples below.
