First Charter $10 Bill (1863-1882)

This design type of ten dollar bill is known as a first charter. The central designs will stay the same. However, the red seal and red overprint numbers can be different. These ten dollar bills were issued by national banks that opened between 1863 and 1881. The design shows Benjamin Franklin flying a kite. The year 1752 is written beside him. Many of these bills will say series of 1875. Others will just have the cursive charter date.
