Value and History: These were issued by national banks that were in business between 1882 and 1901. Some were actually printed as late as 1908. Very few national banks chose to issue such a high denomination. That is a big reason why these are scarce. Generic examples in circulated condition from common banks usually sell for around $4,000 to $6,000. Notes from rare banks in high grades can be worth two or three times more than that.
