Price Guide for 1869 One Dollar Banknotes

Year:  1869

Denomination:  One Dollar Bank Note

Type:  Legal Tender (United States Note)

$1 Bill Front Picture:

Description:   Collectors call these “rainbow” notes due to their brightly colored paper.

Seal Type:  These bank notes all have the same red seal as you see above.

Varieties:   There are no varieties to the 1869 $1 legal tender note. They were all signed by Allison and Spinner.

Portrait:  George Washington

Value:  The value of an 1869 $1 legal tender note is based purely on its condition. Impaired or ugly notes sell for less than $200. Problem free notes in nice condition sell for between $200 and $750. These notes are very old so few have survived in perfect condition. With that said, you can probably guess that uncirculated examples are very rare. High grade examples sell for $2,000 or more. Contact us for details. Please remember that all serial numbers end with a star symbol. That star does not add any value.
