Values of $500 1928 Gold Certificates

Price Guide for 1928 $500 Bills

Year:  1928

Denomination:  Five Hundred Dollar Bill

Type:  Gold Certificate

Portrait:  William McKinley

$500 Bill Front Picture:

Value and History:   1928 marks the last year that gold certificates were issued by The United States. These $500 notes have a typical value range between $2,000 and $10,000. There are actually a surprising number of nice examples from this series. Notes in AU condition can be worth around $15,000. Of course a higher grade would be worth more money. We know that 420,000 of these were printed. So the serial number on yours should be under A00420001A. There are no varieties for this issue. Each note is signed by Woods and Mellon. Star notes were not issued. The value is just based purely on the condition. A serial number under 100 would command an additional premium.

We buy all of these $500 bank notes issued by The United States. Five hundred dollar bills are worth more right now than ever before.
