NBN Counterfeit Part 3: Rome, NY $10

We haven’t posted a counterfeit in almost a year.  This one recently hit our inbox.  It is a $10 original series note from The Central National Bank of Rome, New York.  The treasury serial number is 625262 and the bank serial number is 192.

So, how can you tell this is a fake?  Well at some point in time someone wrote counterfeit in a marker on the front of it.  Despite that, the large majority of people would still try to talk themselves into believing something is authentic even when it is marked as a copy, replica, facsimile, counterfeit, etc.  This one is easy to spot as a fake because of the font in the upper serial number.  Everything else actually looks pretty decent.  As a general rule, any original series note from New York needs to be viewed closely, many are not authentic.
