Those of us who follow the military payment certificate market will recognize this note because it looks similar to the key to the entire series, which is the series 541 $5 MPC. However, we are looking at a series 691 five dollar MPC here. The front text reads “for use only in united states military establishments by united states authorized personnel in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.” There were two different 1.6 million note printings for this issue. So if your serial number is under 1,600,001 then you have a rarer first issue. It is about three times more valuable than the notes with serial numbers over 1.6 million. These aren’t priced in circulated conditions because all of these were saved in perfect condition.
