The series 541 one dollar military payment certificate has a very distinct Eastern European feel to it. However, these were actually printed in Boston, Massachusetts by Tudor Press. Tudor had the original contract to print all military payment certificates for the United States government. By the time series 541 notes came out the company had really gotten lazy in terms of their record keeping and quality standards. They were relieved of their duties (so to speak) in 1961 and Tudor never printed MPCs again. They did make some interesting designs while they lasted. The $1 MPC here is attractive. It has text on it that reads “for use only in united states military establishments by united states authorized personnel in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.”
