Series 541 Military Payment Certificate Value

Series 541 Military Payment Certificate Value

Series 541 military payment certificates are a lot of fun to collect. Collecting the entire series presents challenges in terms of rarity. There are also still unsolved mysteries when it comes to replacements and print ranges for series 541 notes. Like why are there some many high grade high serial numbered replacements out there? Replacement notes have a serial number that does not end with the letter F. Generally speaking, most replacements should command nice premiums. 541 MPCs were printed between May 27th, 1958 and May 26th, 1961. This was the last series printed by Tudor Press. Tudor botched record keeping and quality on this issue. Just like all prior issues, seven different denominations ranging from five cents to ten dollars were circulated in 14 different countries. Around 272 million in face value was issued. That is a pretty standard output for military payment certificates. Without factoring in varieties like replacements and printing range rarities, the series 541 $5 MPC is the single rarest military payment certificate out there. Even a note in poor condition is worth a few hundred dollars (high grade examples are worth considerably more). The fractional denominations are still extremely common though.
