Once again, the five dollar denomination happens to be the key to the set for series 481 military payment certificates. Most 481 five dollar MPCs are still extremely common, but there is the potential to find some exceptions to that rule. We are mostly talking about replacement notes. If the serial number on your note does not end with the letter D, then you have a replacement. Replacements are rare. Five and ten dollar series 481 military payment certificates basically used the exact same design. There is a reclined man on the front of the bill. You will also find text that reads “for use only in united states military establishments by united states authorized personnel in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.”
