Series 461 Military Payment Certificate Value

Series 461 military payment certificates were the first “modern” MPCs issued by The United States. They were first released for circulation in Europe on September 16th, 1946 and in the Pacific on September 30th, 1946. These were redeemed and the next series was issued on March 10th, 1947. As you can see, that is a very short use period. Despite that, all regular issue Series 461 military payment certificates are common. In total, more than 450 million dollars worth of 461 MPCs were issued; and that is spread across seven different denominations. That may sound high, but you have to remember that these were used in 18 different countries. All of these notes were printed privately in Boston, Massachusetts by Tudor Press. Tudor printed the first three MPC issues. Each piece of currency has a really simple design. The serial number should begin and end with the letter A. If it does not end with the letter A then you have a replacement note. Replacements are always worth more money. Generally speaking (outside of replacements), the series 461 $5 military payment certificate is considered the most valuable from the series. If your note happens to have a serial number under 100, then it too will command an additional premium.
