Chartered Bank of India, Australia, & China Bank Note Values

Also known as the Standard Charter Bank, bank notes from The Chartered Bank of India, Australia, and China can be quite rare. Don’t let the name confuse you, this bank was located in Hong Kong. In fact, between 1895 and 1911, the Standard Bank was one of only two banking institutions allowed to circulate paper money in Hong Kong. The Chartered Bank of India, Australia & China got its Royal Charter on December 29th 1853. It opened its Hong Kong branch in 1859. It was printing paper money by 1862. The bank was merged in 1970 and renamed in 1985. Many collectors focus on this particular bank because of its history and its diverse offerings. There is a wide variety in terms of rarity and prices. The engravings and vignettes are also very attractive. Our guide below has pictures and prices for many different bank notes. Be sure you select the correct image; some of them look very similar. We are also aggressive buyers. Please let us know if you have something for sale.
