Bank of Hindustan, China, and Japan Bank Notes

Bank of Hindustan, China, and Japan Bank Note Values

There were around eleven different banks in Hong Kong in the early 1860s. The Bank of Hindustan, China, and Japan was part of that group. It closed in November of 1866, making it one of six failures that year thanks to economic troubles in Britain and India. Currency for the Bank of Hindustan, China, and Japan was actually printed in London. It was only issued for the one thousand dollar denomination. As you might expect, bank notes of that denomination, from that time period, didn’t have a great survival rate. You are unlikely to ever find any paper money from this Hong Kong banking institution.
